Review - Interstellar Dinner with Hugh Mangum
Share
Last night my wife and I attended a special dinner at Interstellar BBQ here in Austin. John Bates hosted a cookbook release party for Hugh Mangum with a very special collaboration dinner.
The menu for the dinner was:
*Smoked and confit pork cheeks w/salsa verde
* BBQ Lamb neck with Zhoug and Toum
* Smoked Oxtail Mole
* Thai Grilled Chicken with Chili Sauce and Fresh Herbs
* Texano Sausage
I have to say the food was Amazing. My favorites were definitely the oxtail and the lamb.
Interstellar is a top 10 Texas Monthly BBQ spots and Hugh is the owner of Might Quinn's BBQ as well as a competitor on many of the Food Network's TV shows. He was a finalist in last season's BBQ Brawl. His love of cooking showed in this meal.
I'm looking forward to trying out some of the recipes from his new cookbook. You can get it from Amazon here.
If you're in the Austin Area, you have to eat at Interstellar. John Bates is an amazing person who puts his love of food in all their dishes. This is his second time for being in the top 10 on Texas Monthly's list. He also has a Michelin star for his restaurant. When you go, you have to try the pork belly. It's his signature dish. One of my other favorite bites are the Lamb tacos. For the sides, you can't go wrong with either the Mac and Cheese or the Poblano Creamed Corn.
